Frequently asked questions
Straight answers — no over-claims.
Does AccountTrace read my emails?
It depends on the scan type. With the Gmail browser scan, your email content is analysed locally in your browser and is never sent to our servers. With an IMAP scan, the analysis runs on our server for that one session only — your credentials are used once to fetch the messages and are never stored. We don't keep your email content.
How is my data encrypted?
Your account data is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. To be honest: the encryption key is held server-side, so this is not zero-knowledge encryption — we could technically decrypt your data to operate the service. We never sell it and never use it for anything beyond running AccountTrace for you. Full technical detail — encrypted fields, the AES-256-GCM parameters and key model — is documented in our security & privacy architecture overview (published in the open-source repository).
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime from the in-app settings or the Stripe customer portal. You keep Pro access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
Account deletion cascades: your identity is removed from our auth provider (Clerk) and all of your accounts and related data are deleted from our database. Your data is yours — you can take it with you (CSV export) or remove it entirely.
What is a DSAR?
A Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) is a request you send to a company, under the GDPR, to access or delete the personal data they hold about you. AccountTrace generates ready-to-send DSAR emails and tracks their lifecycle (sent, deadline, response) so nothing falls through the cracks.
